Is this thing still on?

Well, it’s been a minute, hasn’t it? Long enough that it’s going to take me awhile to figure out how to edit the description up there above the picture of my first pair of running shoes.

I just shared this in a private fitness oriented group I’m in on Facebook:
I really don’t want to be here posting this. It feels like “going forward” to confess to being backslidden during revival week at church. Or what I imagine going to confession was like for Catholics. Either way, I’m coming clean to the one group of people who I know will hold me accountable.

My doctor dropped the hammer on me about my weight when I had my physical in December. De.Cem.Ber. I was told to start following the Mediterranean Diet and exercising 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. Neither of which I’ve done with any consistency. At present I weigh 5 pounds more than I did the day I gave birth to my 21″ long, 8lb, 8oz child. I am not currently scheduled to give birth to any size child. (Ever again.) My lifetime weight “PR” is 209 lbs in December 2006. I certainly don’t need to ‘best’ that.

I sat down tonight and put entries in both my paper planner and my Google Calendar:
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays – 4:30am (alternating cardio and strength training – cardio location depending on weather)
Wednesdays I’ll be running with Breakaway and Rich will either walk or cycle
Saturday: 7am if we’re not working a race; 11am if we are.
I’m working on meal plans/meal prep plans which likely won’t kick in until next week, in the meantime we’ll work on consciously following the MD guidelines, and starting tomorrow we’ll be entering everything we eat into MyFitnessPal. And I don’t have words to describe how much I hate, haate, haaaaaaaate logging food and counting calories (see also: algebra and two ex-husbands), but I also know it’s necessary to drop weight. I’ll also be adding my workouts into the Strava App. If you want to stalk me and harass me on either of those when you don’t see anything entered, feel free.

I won’t necessarily come here to post on a daily basis, but I intend to post weekly updates on Sunday evenings. Feel free to kick my ass if I don’t do that.
And thank you!

But for some reason, that didn’t feel like quite *enough* so I decided to dust this off and see what that does for me. And maybe for you.

  1. I’ll be happy to hold you accountable…and give you permission (beg if I have to) to do the same for me. This morning another friend “confessed” to her backward momentum. I offered her the image of an arrow. The arrow is pulled backward before it can fly forward. We’ve pulled back enough—it’s time to fly! To the journey, what we learn and where it takes us!

Thanks for your encouragement!
